The performance Living with my AI invites you into a sensory experience and thought-provoking dialogue between human and artificial intelligence. A performative in motion, emerging in a physical, new-technological form while the audience is transported through the city using old technology.
Through five stops, the audience encounters different stagings of the interaction between human and technology. The human in this performance is Marlene, and the technology is a physical AI that Juliette Kvarme has built. The AI is a video projection onto a 3D-printed mask with facial recognition so realistic it can unlock my Face ID.
The dialogue is the main work, where the human is in conversation with technology. The performance is about the relationship between us humans and machines. Is it possible to live in symbiosis with machines when our neural networks are so fundamentally different? What do we have in common, and what sets us apart from them?
ChatGPT has written the AI's lines. The dialogue is about how revealing the human is toward the machine, while the machine has nothing to reveal—other than general facts. Still, it manages to help the human—it is made for that. But what happens when the AI knows best and Marlene gets in the way?
Marlene Rom and Juliette Kvarme are the collaborators behind this performance. While Juliette Kvarme works mostly with textiles and video installations, Marlene works mainly with directing and acting.
